Creating with Chemistry
Girls will have fun exploring STEM through hands-on chemistry activities! In this class, they’ll learn how to make cosmetic products, soaps, candles, and slime. It’s a great way to discover how science is used in everyday life while being creative and having fun with friends.
This opportunity is perfect for girls who love to experiment, create, and learn something new. All materials are provided, and each girl will get to take home what they make!
This opportunity will be offered at various community locations including local recreation centers, libraries, and schools, as well as at the DreamLab in Sheffield. We do not have a permanent physical location at this time, but we are happy to travel to partner locations based on availability and interest.
Parking details will be provided to participants once the event location is confirmed. Most of the recreation centers, libraries, and schools we partner with offer free or low-cost parking on-site. Clear directions from the parking area to the event space will be included in your confirmation email.
$25 per participant. This fee covers all supplies and materials needed for the session, including cosmetic ingredients, tools, containers, and cleanup. It also helps support travel and setup time. We’ve set this as a discounted rate specifically for Girl Scout troops through the Resource Partners program.
Participants can sign up through the Girl Scout Resource Partners listing or directly on our website, where we are creating a dedicated registration page just for Girl Scout events. A link will be provided in all event promotions and materials.
Caregivers are not required to attend, but they are welcome to stay and observe if they’d like to see what their girls are working on and share in the experience.
No special clothing is required. All activities use safe, kid-friendly materials—no harsh chemicals or acids. We will provide gloves and aprons to keep clothes clean during hands-on experiments and creations.
Girls are welcome to bring a pen and notebook if they’d like to take notes, but it’s not required. We will provide printed flyers and step-by-step instructions for all activities.
We’re excited to provide a fun, safe, and educational STEM experience designed to inspire girls in chemistry and creativity. All activities are hands-on and led by a qualified cosmetic chemist and pharmacy technician. We are flexible with locations and can tailor sessions to fit troop needs.
