Hygiene Items Needed at the YWCA Greater Cleveland Norma Herr Women’s Shelter and Early Learning Center

This opportunity fits within the year of service as well as general community service. Rising costs for housing and food have driven more people into homelessness. Cleanliness helps prevent health problems, so a steady supply of laundry and personal cleaning items plus fresh socks and underwear can literally keep people healthy.

Ongoing needs for hygiene items at the YWCA Greater Cleveland Norma Herr Women’s Shelter and Early Learning Center. Laundry detergent – soap – shampoo – new socks – underwear for women of all sizes to 5x and preschool aged children.

YWCA facilities are open 24/7 for drop off of items. Drop off at the YWCA Greater Cleveland main office, 4019 Prospect Avenue, Cleveland. Free parking at parking lot adjacent to building.

A “drive” for any of these items would be appreciated. Girls can choose what they want to collect. We can work with troop leaders for the girls to do more than drop off, if desired. We can give a tour of any of the programs, show them the history wall of YWCA Cleveland – founded in 1868 it is one of the oldest non-profits and the 7th Young Women’s Christian Association when it was founded three years after the Civil War to help women and children become self-sufficient. If a drive is taking place, please alert Lise Day at lday@ywcaofcleveland.org or call 216-881-8868.
